Indian Recipe for Lunch with Masala Bhindi

Watch Marut Sikka work his magic with freshly bought okra. Grab some mustard oil, cumin seeds, fennel seeds, finely-chopped onions, ginger and a pinch of amchoor. We promise you’ll make this recipe a regular affair in your weekly menu.

Ingredients :

  1. 250 gm bhindi
  2. 1 small bowl of water
  3. 7-8 Tbsp mustard oil
  4. 1 tsp jeera seeds
  5. 1 tsp fennel seeds
  6. 1 small bowl finely chopped onions
  7. 1 tsp chopped ginger
  8. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  9. Salt – to taste
  10. 1 tsp fennel powder
  11. 1 1/2 tsp amchoor powder
  12. 1/4 tsp pepper powder
  13. 1/2 tsp sugar
  14. 1 tsp lime juice

Method :

  1. Heat oil add jeera and fennel seeds, let them splutter.
  2. Add the onions and lightly brown them.
  3. Add ginger and some water, stir.
  4. Add the turmeric powder and stir again.
  5. Mix in the bhindi. Pour in the rest of the water and continue stirring.
  6. Mix in the bhindi well and add the salt.
  7. Sprinkle fennel powder, amchoor powder and sugar.
  8. Mix again and sprinkle the pepper powder.
  9. Add the lime juice, stir well and serve.
